A GOOD DAY

Doug and I went to visit mom and dad on Friday. When we entered the building they were sitting at the table having a snack with their friends.

I was struck by how happy the faces were of the elderly men and women there.

Mom and dad recognized us right away, stood up and came over to us.

We went to their room where they offered us candy from the tin that Nancy had sent. Mom remembered that Nancy had sent it, too.

They wanted to go out so we drove along the lake and looked at all the BIG houses and discussed what it would be like to live in one of them.

Then we went into the health food store in Ludington-the store also has locally made knitted hats, mittens-there are silk scarves and unique baskets, jewerly and kitchen items.

We had a blast.

Dad kept saying to mom," Don't get carried away Barb, I don't think I have any money on me,"

and mom told him she was having fun and wouldn't buy much.

It was an hour that was almost like having them back as they once were-

Mom talked to a man with a little white dog who was waiting outside for his wife.

Then it was time to go home.

Dad did not recognize his room and wondered why they had clothes there.

Mom put on some new clothes that I had gotten her and she tried to put the sweater on her legs, as pants.

Once we got that all corrected she looked beautiful in her new sweater and we went out to the living room to watch t.v.

The other residents were very pleasant and wanted to know where mom had gotten her new sweater.

Mom is so kind to the other ladies and I am sure she is a real blessing there.

She acts as though she were at a sorority house-waving and smiling at the other residents!

As we left mom and dad were sitting together in the living room on the loveseat exclaiming over the beauty of the setting sun out the window. They can still see the beauty around them and be moved by it. Praise God for all His goodness.
