Our Epic Winter

This is Potter Road. We think it is  about the most beautiful road in our area. When we first moved to Michigan I asked Doug why there was only snow on the trees on one side of the road. I suppose you all know the answer, right?

OUR LITTLE TOWN OF ONEKAMA

The ice cream shop is closed for the winter as is nearly every other shop in town.

Our cottage at Red Park in Onekama
Old Facefull is an Artesian well that never stops running  at Pierport. It is really ice covered this year more than I have ever seen it before!
 Camp Tosebo boat house

Finally the sun came out so Doug and I jumped in the car to take some pictures--

There really are some ice caves that have been formed by the wind, ice and snow. As I was taking pictures there were people on the ice and I heard one of them yell. "Look at grandma she could get lost in that cave." The Great Lakes are nearly ice covered now and in these pictures when you see blue it is not open water, but just a place that has been swept clean by the wind.

The Coast Guard station in Frankfort where our new son-in-law works.

Sidewalks

Up here in Michigan we shovel roofs!!

As you can see we are nearly out of wood and it is a long way until the end of winter!

I am one of those people who really love the beauty of winter. It is my favorite season.
I love to bundle up in my wool tights and sweaters.
Everything is clean and the air wonderfully fresh with the hint of wood smoke.
It has been very cold this winter and we have not seen much of the sun but these things do not depress me as I can be content to fix a pot of hot tea and spend time baking, reading or even house cleaning.
Life has changed for me this year as my active time of child raising is now over and I can spend more time on things I have long wanted to do.
Our loving Saviour has been so good to our family. I thank Him every day for His wonderful salvation and His great mercy toward me and mine.
