CHRISTMAS 2017

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

We are decorating our home for Christmas!
I love this time of the year.
Even though Doug and I will be spending Christmas Day by ourselves, we are enjoying every day that the Lord gives to us.We have so many happy family memories.

Holiday Baking

Today I made my famous Cranberry Crunch! It's out of my old Natural Food Cookbook 1971. I think I have made this dessert almost every year since I got the book in the 1970's. You have to serve it with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream as it is very tart. Recipes did not use much sugar back then as we were all trying to be healthy. We were heavy on the dairy and wheat flour, though!

Our birds and our snow have returned. I have never seen so many birds at the feeders. I am wondering if this indicates an extra snowy season.

Adeline and baby Carson ( better known as baby BoBo ) are excited about Christmas. They live in Texas so they have not seen snow, but they can pretend with Frosty the Snowman!

Ady had some neighbors come by this week and they told her that Santa was going to bring her a gift from them. She cried and said, "No, I don't want Santa to see me!"

This is the first year her family is going to put up a Christmas tree. Her Sunday school teacher was asking the children if they had their trees up and she thought that Christmas wouldn't happen at her house without a tree. So, out Seth went and brought home a special tree that they all decorated. Now she awaits the big day when the presents will appear under the tree!

Lena and Adam have been having fun with their three boys, too. Here they are at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago for the Christmas lights!
Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year as we remember all that God has done for us. He sent His only Son into the world to take our sin upon Himself so that we could have eternal life.
The most precious gift of all time.
I am thankful every day that back in 1980 when I was 32 years old that the Holy Spirit drew me to Himself and I received His free gift of salvation.
My life was forever changed and all these years since I have loved Him and will forever.
Praise His Holy Name.

290,000 Miles

We bought our Honda Pilot new in 2004.
Now, 290,000 miles later it is still in great running condition.
We gave our youngest daughter, Anna, the car to use when she went to college.
She did not have access to a garage so it spent 2 winters out in the Michigan snow and ice!
She married soon after college and we then gave the title to her and her husband.
When they decided to move to Texas they thought the car too old with too many miles and that it would probably end up costing more money than they wanted to spend to maintain.
So, Doug and I got it back!
We had it detailed and put a little money into it and now we are driving it again.
The newer Honda CRV is in the pole barn resting this winter. We hope to eventually get many more miles out of it, too.

December

"Kindness is like snow...it beautifies everything it covers."  unknown

We have had a very mild start to winter, but that is forecast to be over in the next day or two.
I love the snow and always happily anticipate its arrival.
